we call them iron sights in america too, i just prefer an aperture sight. it does have a bright red sight but my eyes just like a hole i guess rather then a notch

Ah, i see. Din't knew that. We use same word for both of them in Russian. But you can get one with bright dot on it right? It's easy to see.

the notch sight is like the one on an AK-74, the aperture sight is like the one on the M16
