Osama Bin Laden's former cook and driver has been sentenced to 14 years in prison by a Guantanamo Bay tribunal.
Sudanese-born Ibrahim al-Qosi had admitted conspiracy and providing support for terrorism.
However, correspondents say he could serve far less time because his sentence is limited by a plea deal.
Under the agreement, Qosi also admitted working as Osama Bin Laden's bodyguard in Afghanistan and helping him avoid capture by US forces.
The sentence will now be reviewed by the Pentagon, a process that could take several weeks, the Associated Press news agency reported.
Qosi, 50, was detained by US forces in 2001 and transferred to the US naval base on Cuba in 2002.
He is the first detainee to be sentenced by a military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay since President Barack Obama took office.
Mr Obama had pledged to shut the controversial facility by January this year.
