The woman Gordon Brown sought to blame for the "Bigotgate" embarrassment during the election has taken her seat in the House of Lords.
Sue Nye (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Sue%20Nye), the former prime minister's director of government relations, was thrust into the spotlight after being blamed for making Mr Brown meet Gillian Duffy (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Gillian_Duffy).
Following an awkward but relatively good-natured conversation with her on the campaign trail, Mr Brown was overheard referring to the Rochdale grandmother as "bigoted".
In an unguarded moment, his words were picked up by a Sky News microphone still pinned to his lapel - and he was heard putting the onus of blame on "Sue".
Mr Brown (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Gordon_Brown) had to apologise to Ms Duffy after the slur and at the time admitted that he would pay a "very heavy price" for his comments.

Despite the setback, Mr Brown rewarded his right-hand woman with a place in the House of Lords in his resignation honours list and was present as she took her seat.
The announcement of her peerage delighted Labour staff as Ms Nye is widely admired and has been described by colleagues as "brilliant and unflappable".
Ms Nye, 55, first entered 10 Downing Street as a secretary for Jim Callaghan and served as Mr Brown's gatekeeper for 18 years.

Other peers introduced into the Lords include former Labour deputy prime minister John Prescott, ex-Tory leader Michael Howard and ex-first minister of Northern Ireland Ian Paisley.
Former Met Police commissioner Sir Ian Blair and former Labour ministers John Reid, Des Browne, Hilary Armstrong, John Hutton and Quentin Davies.
A total of 56 new members of the Lords are being created.

Whilst I am not a great believer in the way the House of Lords works and how people get elected, it has to be said that the last Labour government have done nothing to enhance the upper house's reputation by some of the appointments they have made and this is another example following the likes of Martin, Mandelson, Prescott, Sugar, Des Browne.

Think its about time the House of Lords was renamed the House of Clowns because the recent additions have surely turned it into a laughing stock.
