SANTIAGO July 20 (Reuters) - Chile's top airline LAN (LAN.SN (http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/overview?symbol=LAN.SN)) (LFL.N (http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/overview?symbol=LFL.N)) said on Tuesday it has ordered 50 Airbus A320 planes with a list price of around $4.15 billion.
The company said it also plans to sell 15 A318 planes between 2011 and 2013 as part of its fleet upgrade program.
The short-haul planes would be incorporated in its fleet gradually between 2012 and 2016 and used in regional and domestic routes in Latin America, LAN said in a statement.
The carrier, one of Latin America biggest and most profitable airlines, has said it plans to invest $2.83 billion between 2010 and 2013 as it expands its fleet. [ID:nN29229878]
In December, LAN signed a contract to buy 30 new Airbus A320 short-haul planes worth around $1.97 billion.
