fighting for his life after being thrown from a railway bridge on to tracks where he was hit by a train.

The 48-year-old was struck after three men threw him over the side into the path of the 4.15 Manchester to Euston service.
He suffered horrific arm, leg and pelvis injuries from the impacts, which happened just after 5.30pm on Sunday.
Stunned members of the public desperately phoned 999 for help when they saw his broken body on the tracks.
Police and medics scrambled to the scene to treat him.
The Virgin train was able to stop after the driver spotted the man and a doctor and nurse onboard helped him before ambulances arrived at the scene in Weedon, Northants.
He was then rushed by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry in Coventry, West Mids.

Manhunt

Police mounted a massive manhunt around the area and arrested three men — two aged 34 and one aged 24 — on suspicion of attempted murder an hour later.
Cops today said they had not yet charged anyone, but a source close to the investigation explained what had happened.
He said: "It all happened last night on the railway bridge in Weedon.
"It was about 5pm and there were three men on the bridge.
"They threw a man off the bridge on to the tracks - he was seriously injured, but as far as I know he is still alive.
"The train was alerted to what happened so was able to stop."
The injured man is from Dodford, Northants, but has not yet been named.
The village where the attack happened has been the scene of two other rail tragedies.
In 1915 the Birmingham to Euston train crashed, killing ten passengers and injuring 21 more.
Over three decades later it happened again in 1951 when a Liverpool Lime Street to Euston train derailed at a speed of 65mph, killing 15 people and injuring 35 more.
Shocked families living in the village said they had not been told the full circumstances behind this latest rail horror.
Parish council clerk Sue Halkett said: "We saw all the police and ambulance but the area was all cordoned off.
"We don't know what's happened over there, everyone's in the dark over it."
A spokesman for the British Transport Police confirmed it had attended the scene with Northamptonshire Police.
He said: "We were at the rail line near to Weedon Road in Northampton after a report of a man being struck and injured by a train.
"The incident was reported to police at 5.45pm on Sunday and is currently being treated as unexplained.
"Following a search of the nearby area three men, two aged 34 and one aged 24, were arrested approximately an hour later.
"They are currently in custody where they are being questioned in connection with the incident.
"The injured man, a 48-year-old from Dodford, Northants, was taken to hospital in Coventry with severe injuries, where he currently remains in a serious but stable condition."
Phil Morris, spokesman for East Midlands Ambulance Service, said they had received a call at 5.48pm that a man had been hit by a train.

He said: "We sent two first responder vehicles, a single paramedic and a conventional ambulance as well as the air ambulance.
"The helicopter arrived at 6.04pm and departed an hour later, arriving at 7.14pm at University of Coventry hospital."
A spokesman for Virgin Trains said it had been a challenging situation for staff.
He said: "Our driver helped to avoid what could have been an even more serious incident by reacting quickly.
"Our train crew were praised for how they handled the situation by passengers."
