A couple have reported their pet cat to the police - because he won't stop knicking knickers.
Peter and Birgitt Weismantel said they had no option but to call in the law as they feared that their neighbours would think there was a pervert on the loose.
Kleptomaniac Oscar, 13, has so far "stolen" more than 70 items, ranging from frilly knickers to gardening and rubber gloves, socks and even a paint roller. Earlier this week he brought home, one by one, 10 pairs of children's underpants.
Mr Weismantel, 72, a retired teacher, said: "About a month ago he started bringing socks into the house. He was very proud that he had found these presents for us and would drop them at our feet.

"At first we thought it was just rubbish but then the quality of these items started improving.
"The officer I spoke to thought it was pretty amusing but he could see why I was worried."
The couple, from Southampton, fostered Oscar last Christmas and plan to adopt him despite his strange habit. Mrs Weismantel, 56, said: "He's got a lovely personality. If anyone is missing any underwear it would be good to put their minds at rest that it's only a cat pinching them and not someone more unpleasant."
They are keeping all the items in the hope that they might, one day, be able to return them to their owners. But Oscar should beware - police have taken down his paw-ticulars.
