Soldier’s show of strength
A SOLDIER who lost both legs and an arm in Afghanistan took his first public steps on new prosthetic limbs yesterday to receive a military medal.

Corporal Andy Reid, 33, got up from his wheelchair to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with comrades for 30 minutes in sweltering heat.
After receiving the Operational Service Medal, he then marched off the parade ground with his mates to cheers from the crowd, including proud girlfriend Claire Smith, 28.
The triple amputee, of 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, said afterwards: "It means a lot to stand alongside the lads.
"I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it at all, and it took a lot of training, but I did it."
Cpl Reid, from St Helens, Merseyside, lost his legs and right arm in a blast in Sangin last October.
Soldiers who took part in Operation Herrick last year were honoured at yesterday's ceremony in Warminster, Wilts, by the Duke of Wellington - great-great grandson of the Waterloo hero.
