Vandals desecrate British WW1 graves in France with racist slogans

A British First World War cemetery in northern France has been vandalised with racist graffiti.
More than a dozen graves belonging to fallen war heroes at Loos-en-Gohelle near Lens were this morning daubed in pink paint.
Graffiti including Nazi swastikas and SS-signs were painted on the tombstones and a monument which paid tribute to the thousands of British soldiers who died in the Battle of Loos in 1915.

The battle claimed the lives of both the late Queen Mother’s brother, and Rudyard Kipling’s son. More than 20,000 officers and men died in the area in all, many ending up in unmarked graves who are commemorated by the memorial which was vandalised.
‘It’s a despicable crime, and we are determined to bring those who carried it out to justice,’ said a local police spokesman, who said it took place in the early hours of this morning.

It is so sad how quickly they forget the sacrifices made
