Sergeant Boris Lazarev was shot down on 19 Apr 1943 near Chupa by German pilot Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Muller. Lazarev's Hurricane landed in a bog and was found over 60 years later. Bog water preserved Lazarev's remains.

Geez that is strange!!!
His feet are gone (I'm assuming from the crash?) but his skin is still intact and everything!
If he has any family or kin left, I'm sure it will do them proud when he is buried with state honors pretty soon.

Amazing the things found in the frozen tundra of the far north. Must be some interesting stories, if only we could hear them.

The chemical conditions found in bogs are incredible for preserving, all sorts of things have been found in the bogs of Ireland including people cheese and butter that were thousand years old. The food items found were actually edible!

Am I the only one that finds this really creepy? And what's with the posture? Kind of an odd way to be positioned when you die.....hands beside your head in a seated position.
