Hey boys. I just got back to Iraq and finally made it to my duty station. I was roving around base the other day and saw some abandoned, derelict buildings. I'm an archaeologist at heart and love to explore abandoned ruins and decayed structures, so I took some pics.

More. 25th ID was there at some point, and I had thought walking through this hulk of a burned out building I was going to see Arabic numerals for 2003, but believe it or not, I saw wall calendars from 2009! This place must have burned recently!

Looks wild, there was an abandoned psych hospital here in Philly we used to go party in. That was spooky at night. Now its an industrial park and a VA nursing home. I wonder what that place will be in 20 years?
Good luck bro, stay safe. Joe

If they wanted to save some money, they could go about hiring local nationals to go in, scrub the place out, wash it out and fix it up a little. Would save space from building more Trailer "Pods", and would boost the local economy by adding jobs and indirectly, retail revenue.

That would entail the higher ups using their brains, and showing initiative. I don't know the Army, but that NEVER happened in the Navy. :)

I have heard of it, but never been there. This is where I went a couple times a month, in the 80s : http://www.opacity.us/site10_philadelphia_state_hospital_byberry.htm
I love urban exploration. Especially abandoned Kirkbride buildings.
Nice pics.
