RHINELANDER, Wis. — Two men and a woman are accused of stealing the identities of Wisconsin soldiers who died in Iraq.
Oneida County sheriff's investigators say a 46-year-old man and 25-year-old man, both of Green Bay, and a 25-year-old Milwaukee woman were arrested last week after a traffic stop in the Town of Lake Tomahawk. The three were arrested on parole violations, but deputies say further investigation uncovered the attempts to pass fake checks in the name of the dead soldiers.
WBAY-TV says the parents of the soldiers have been notified. The case has been referred to prosecutors.
