Terror Suspects Win Appeal To Stay In Britain

Two Pakistani students arrested in a massive counter-terror operation have won their appeals to stay in Britain - despite government claims they are a threat to national security.

Abid Naseer and Ahmed Faraz Khan were held but never charged after the major anti-terror swoop in the north west of England.
They were detained by police as part of Operation Pathway, which targeted an alleged al Qaeda plot.
At the time of the raids, police and the security services said the men were part of a major plot, but there was not enough evidence to charge them so they were ordered to be deported.
The men rejected claims they were involved in a terrorist plot.
In all five men were arrested during the raids in Manchester and Liverpool.
MI5 was forced to swoop early when the former Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Bob Quick accidentally revealed secret documents with details of the plan to photographers outside Downing Street.
They are a security risk to the UK. We are now taking all possible measures to ensure they do not engage in terrorist activity.

An earlier hearing was told Naseer, the alleged ringleader, was the author of a series of emails allegedly exchanged with a member of al Qaeda.
The emails referred to a "nikah", or wedding, that MI5 said was a coded reference to a planned attack.
Lawyers for Naseer said the emails were entirely innocent.
A third man, Shoaib Khan, who has already returned to Pakistan, also won his appeal to the Special Immigration Appeals Commission against exclusion from the UK.
But two other men in Pakistan, Abdul Wahab Khan, 27, and Tariq Ur Rehman, 38, had their appeals against exclusion rejected.

New Home Secretary Theresa May said: "Protecting the public is the Government's top priority.
"We are disappointed that the court has ruled that Abid Naseer and Ahmad Faraz Khan should not be deported to Pakistan, which we were seeking on national security grounds.
"As the court agreed, they are a security risk to the UK. We are now taking all possible measures to ensure they do not engage in terrorist activity."

Just supposing (hypothetically) two years down the line these same people actually do carry out a terrorist attack in this country - what then?
The judge says sorry - resigns, is back in a highly paid job within a month (old boys network) and gets a peerage.
The terrorists serve a few years in a cushy prison getting anything they want due to their "human rights" and when released are treated like heroes in their own country.
What will the families of the victims get?
Stupidity in officialdom rewarded,
and we let the rats on our own soil of terror breed.
The decision as much use a a chocolate fireguard
