MIAMI (AP) - Three men are being charged in Miami with illegally exporting products to a South American shopping center, which U.S. officials say is a front to finance the Hezbollah terrorist group.
An indictment unsealed Friday charges the three with violating a U.S. ban on doing business with the Lebanon-based organization, which is listed as a terrorist group by the U.S.
The men allegedly exported goods to the shopping center in Paraguay that U.S. officials say is a fundraising conduit for Hezbollah. The shopping center is owned by a man described as the senior Hezbollah leader in a part of South America known as the Tri-Border Area, encompassing parts of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
The men were expected to make an initial federal court appearance Friday.
