as far as I know french citizens are not allowed to enlist with the legion, they have lot of Germans there, at least they had when WW2 was over.
I was in Paris with the German army on the national day (first soldiers to drive down at the parade after hitlers victory march) very touchy but was a great experience.
I meet a lot of old Foreign legion and some young once and a lot of the old were germans, they showed us pictures and paid for our drinks :D
I even was lucky enough to be once in a foreign legion base, very interesting.
