(CNN) -- NASA has put off the planned launch of its next-generation Orion spacecraft for a year, a setback to efforts to get a successor to its aging space shuttles off the ground sooner rather than later, the space agency announced Monday.

Orion ain't going to happen until 2014 ;) The delay is somewhat upsetting, I was hoping to see Orion in service earlier. Despite this, it's good to know Orion is still a go and the NASA teams know how to make it happen.

Good read, currently we/the U.S. are relying on the Russians to get to the international space station. With this current Russian/Georgia conflict I wonder how long that is going to last? This pushback on Orion has suddenly become a much larger issue, what if the RUssians decide to make the space station trips to be THAT much more difficult? THe U.S. needs to improvise, less reliance on other nations is a key to success.
