A group of Swedish and Finnish peacekeepers were on patrol on Sunday morning when they came under fire from insurgents.
The gun battle occurred in the western part of the Finnish-Swedish operations area about 150 kilometres from their main base at Mazar-i-Sharif.
Additional troops arrived at the scene shortly after the incident broke out.
