Nominee outlines changes in VA health system

The Obama administration’s nominee to run the VA health care system says he is looking to shake things up in the nation’s largest integrated medical system.
Dr. Robert Petzel, who has 35 years of experience in VA, told a Senate committee that he would bring an “innovative and creative approach” to veterans health programs if confirmed as VA undersecretary for health. That means, he said, realigning the Veterans Health Administration to be “more patient-centered,” more team-oriented and more standardized across the U.S. in its medical care, organization and business practices.
