The new training year will begin in the Armed Forces of Russia on December 1

On December 1 the new training year will begin in the Armed Forces of Russia. All military units will conduct festive meetings devoted to the beginning of the new training year. The classes will be held with personnel on combat readiness, military and social-and-public training.
Increase of the level of individual training of officers, individual training of personnel, quality of adjustment of tactical-level units from squad to battalion will become the main purpose of training in 2010.
The operational-and-strategic exercise "Vostok-2010", which will be attended by troops of the Siberian and Far Eastern military districts, military units of the Air Force, Airborne Forces and forces of the Pacific Fleet will become the main event of combat training in 2010.

In 2010 the Land Force and Airborne Forces will carry out training of military personnel over five months. Training of the flight and ship crews is scheduled to conduct, respectively, on annual and biennial cycles of training.
The new training year will be peculiar in focusing on company and battalion tactical exercises. Brigade exercises are also planned: the research (5 separate motorized rifle brigades [smrbr] of the Moscow military district) and demonstration exercises (9 smrbr of the Moscow military district) during the Armed Forces leadership’s assembly.
The focus in training troops will be given to individual training and team training of units of grassroots company-inclusive. During tactical exercise battalions will be trained as self-contained tactical units.
It is planned to increase the individual and special phases of personnel’s training (up to 6 weeks), to reduce the time of units’ adjustment – squads (crews) and platoons (up to 3 weeks), and also companies (batteries), battalions and divisions (up to 4 weeks).
The elements of preparation based on local geophysical conditions will be also introduced inside combat training.
This approach to the organization of combat training in 2010th training year will specifically prepare troops (forces) to carry out the tasks assigned.
In 2009 15 brigade tactical exercises, 161 battalion tactical exercises, 736 company tactical exercises, more than 8000 combat firings were carried out.
More than 600 special, record tactical and 280 command post exercises were conducted within the Services and Arms of the Armed Forces.

The main problem is conscription. The Russian mentality is still set in World War 2: millions of troops, quick training, off to battle. You need a professional military in today's wars. Right now Russia gives their Moscow based units the best they offer, the rest are left with old tech. It would be wiser to get rid of the draft, take money being used for it and devote that into better equipment and training for volunteered soldiers.

If works for use it'll work for them. Maybe then we won't see their soldiers wearing rags and loose fitting kits. And for the love of Christ, get the fuck off the BMP! Ride in the damn thing and maybe you'll survive the IED.

I dont think so but think of how many massive training events we hold here in the US.
