The new Infantry Corps Carrier (ATV) supports forces in the battlefield, carrying up to 700kg of equipment and provisions

One of the lessons learned from the Second Lebanon War was that the IDF requires logistic solutions for warfare with small groups in open areas. This kind of warfare is characterized by logistic difficulties regarding the transfer of equipment and provisions, and also the evacuation of wounded soldiers from the battlefront for medical treatment.
Finally, a solution to the issue of transferring equipment and provisions was found in the Infantry Corps Carrier, an upgraded ATV with high navigability, which is made in Israel. The Infantry Corps Carrier carries up to 700kg, which is a lot relative to its own weight. IDF forces use the device to transfer munitions, water and food. In addition, two wounded soldiers on stretchers can be transported on the Infantry Corps Carrier. The stretchers are attached to the vehicle with a special mechanism, in the front and in the back.
The one disadvantage of the Infantry Corps Carrier is its lack of protection. However, the forces in the field only use the vehicle after hitting their target, when no danger is expected for the drivers. Nevertheless, the drivers are protected with ceramic helmets and vests for additional safety.
The IDF is currently equipping itself with the Infantry Corps Carrier; every Infantry Corps battalion will receive four of the vehicles. The drivers of the Infantry Corps Carrier participate in a three week long training course at the School for Professional Driving. Following the course the drivers return to their battalion and continue practicing with the vehicles.
