AAV upgrades may serve as EFV backup plan

Marine officials are considering upgrades to amphibious assault vehicles, raising questions about whether the Corps is planning ahead in case the embattled Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle, expected to take the AAV’s place, is cancelled.

Why is it that the DoD is the ONLY branch of government that is making budget cuts when they are only taking up 12% of the total GNP?! Entitlements need to be cut before this. Under Nixon the DoD budget was 60%.....It will NEVER be that high again so why not cut from welfare or better yet congresses pay!?

Well, weren't they having weight issues with the EFVs, anyway? I think the main thing they need to upgrade on the current Amtracks, are speed(on water) and firepower.
