DoD IDs next 2 brigades headed to Afghanistan

The Defense Department on Wednesday identified two brigades scheduled to deploy beginning in the spring as part of the next rotation of troops into Afghanistan.
About 6,100 soldiers — 2,800 from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, of Fort Campbell, Ky., and about 3,300 from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, of Fort Carson, Colo. — are affected by this announcement.
The 101st CAB will begin deploying in the spring, while 1st BCT, 4th Infantry will deploy in the summer, according to DoD. Soldiers from 1st BCT, 4th Infantry will be tasked with supporting the ongoing training and mentoring of the Afghan National Security Forces.
