MOORHEAD, Minn. — A drunken driver from Fargo, N.D., faces charges after being nabbed by an Army Ranger, authorities said.
Police said Mike Arntson chased down the man after he crashed into a vehicle carrying Arntson; his wife, Heather; and their four children in south Moorhead late Sunday afternoon.
Heather Arntson called 911 after the crash, saying the driver was trying to flee the scene on foot. She told the dispatcher that her husband was chasing down the man.
Mike Arntson, an Iraq war veteran, says his military training “just kind of kicked in.” He says he caught up with the driver a few houses away. He searched the man and marched him back to the scene.
Police say the 23-year-old Fargo man was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk, leaving the scene of an accident and disobeying a stop sign.
