It flew at nearly Mach 7, or 5,000 mph. It easily surpassed the previous record set by the military's now-retired SR-71 Blackbird high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, which flew at about Mach 3.2.

Soon, they're going to make a MACH 10 attempt, is it me or does the AURORA concept look like it's equipped with a scramjet?
