Vietnam vet says he lied about medals
The Associated Press

HOUSTON — A Vietnam veteran from Houston has admitted that he lied about his rank and numerous honors after questions arose when he told his story to a TV station on the Fourth of July.
Charles Bass told the same story he’d been recounting for years, pointing to scars while spinning a tale of surviving a deadly snakebite in Vietnam.
His claim that he was a sergeant major with several service medals unraveled when a local Vietnam veteran who saw the TV report couldn’t find Bass’ name on a Web site that lists honorees.
Five days after the report, Bass apologized. He said he bought the medals in military surplus stores.
The Houston Chronicle reported that discharge papers say Bass was an Army private with no distinguished service medals.
How could someone in good conscience do something like that. That's just an embarrassment.

This shit happens all the time. Many try calling me out but nobody can prove it. military service fraud is wide spread.

Its nuts how far somebody goes in order to belong to a group and actually have the nerve to go to the memorial day like this..
Bob you should get in contact with them - ask them if we can run some ads for them and what our goal here is.

Well there are some guys who have lost some of their awards or received them when they were young didn't care about them then but when they get older they want them.2 years ago my wife and kids went through my V.A./ Army file I keep ,looked up some of the things I had and bought them on an Internet site that specializes in the tribute cases and put together one of those wooden tribute cases you can display and gave it to me for fathers day. So things like that I have no problem with. But I think you should have to show the original orders for them, even if you lose those you can get copies from National Personnel Records Center . There are lot's of guys who claim their stuff was burned in the big fire in the St.Louis storage area, NPRC but that only pertained to Army records from Nov,1 1912 to Jan. 1 1960 and Air Force from September 25, 1947, to January 1, 1964 and not all those record were lost in the fire. So you get a guy claiming he's a big Vietnam vet but all his records are destroyed in the fire is full of it and my god did I hear that one a lot.
