Seemed awful low to try that loop off take-off... probly didn't have enough speed either.

I think this accident was attributed to the pilot not setting the altitude meter to the correct setting for the height above sea lvel, resulting in his starting the loop too low and crashing. the othe view from the audience is impressive but good that the pilot had the reactions and sense to get out!

I posted this vid awhile ago and the reason the plane went down was loss of engine power it failed to power up and the bottom of a loop

Sorry Serpa but even the link in the post reports this was pilot error, explained in a more technical way "According to the accident investigation board report the pilot, 31-year-old Captain Chris Stricklin, misinterpreted the altitude required to complete the "Split S" maneuver. He made his calculation based on an incorrect mean-sea-level altitude of the airfield. The pilot incorrectly climbed to 1,670 feet above ground level instead of 2,500 feet before initiating the pull down to the Split S maneuver.

Didn't kill his career either, he went on to be a squadron commander.
