With the range the .50 cal can hit out too wouldn't it be an option to put optics on the gun or is the recoil too much for that?

They do offer a mount for optics and also a laser, and a night vision scope. I personally have only used the night scope, recoil Is not really An Issue because the scope has A rubber boot that extends to the eye so It absorbs what recoil there Is. Tripod mounted And not weighted down with enough sand bags will be an Issue with recoil

I got a question, hopefully one of our vets can help explain this to me.
So I noticed that if the gunner wants to spin the turret, there is a joystick to his right. To me, this would make it hard to track a target if needed. Wouldn't it make sense to have the turret swivel when the M2 is pushed all the way to one side or the other. This would allow for continuous fire and keep both hands on the gun making it less of a multi task to pivot and track.

@gutro The joystick has a magnetic base and is easily placed anywhere there is metal.

@Chapa, I get that, but it still requires multi tasking to operate it. I just think having sensors at the base of the mount would make more sense, that way the gunner can always have both hands on the gun at all times. Pivot the turret with the gun, or point the gun where you want to face.

Agreed, I bet it has a little to do with KISS principle. The current system works pretty good, and the new crows system theoretically works even better by taking the gunner out of the turret completely. Just like the gun the guy is shooting, that shit is from WW2.

Carlos Hathcock had a long standing record distant kill shot with the .50 he used a custom designed scope mount and shot somebody well over a thousand yards.

I must say, removing the gunner all together does seem like the best way to go lol
