Maybe they stopped the driver and he was still holding the detonator and they said fuck it shoot it till it blows I know my sons friend was a scout sniper in Iraq and they use to wait for insurgents to get the bomb in the open and when all of them gatherd around it they would shoot the bomb with 50 cal HE rounds

lool i know i know not good technique... sources say that the bus had 2 drivers the checkpoint killed the 2 drivers then they decided to shoot the minibus till it blew they didint want to send eod to check it cause the car might also br remote detonated from a spotter
