Funniest reproduction of this scene I ever saw was on Comedy Central about 15 years ago.

It had a guy who had just been hitch hiking. He'd been picked up by a guy who was painted up and dressed up as a circus clown. The clown was doing a spot on impersonation of Duvall saying; "we didn't find one body. Not one stinking dink body...", as the hitch hiker was looking like he was about to try and jump out of the truck.

All I could think was; "PERFECT! That is just the perfect way to scare the living piss out of someone! A fucking clown doing Colonel Kilgore!!!"
