View Full Version : Knife Blade Problem

The blade of my new and little used knife is.... what, trashed.

The sharpener in the picture is what I bought because I'd heard that it was so simple and effective it could be used to keep even ceramic blades sharp.

I swiped the knife no more than half a dozen times.
As you can see, the results aren't what should be expected.

So, what is the solution to the problem?

No expert on guns, but can tell few things about knives. Bad heat treatment. There is no real solution. That blade sharpener, well it has nothing to do with it. That knife is wrongly made. Bad steel and bad heat treatment.

Another question. Was the blade in such condition when you got the knife? Then i can help to fix it.

Nope, the blade was fine and pretty. I even made a point of not dishwashering it.

Knife sharpener can't do that with a blade.... You know how hard it is on a Rockwell scale? Where you brought it? What i see can only happen if a blade was wrongly heat treated. Steel is to hard. So it brittle.
You can fix it, well the broken parts by using a sand paper.

Btw, sorry to say that, but that thing you brought is a piece of junk :/ I mean the one to make your knives sharp.
Lansky systems are 100 miles away of that, and they're not that expensive.

It's a kitchenaid knife bud, that's their quality. I used various type of butcher knives for all of my kitchen, and butchering work. Their blades are better made, easier to sharpen, and the quality of cut without sharpening is the best. High carbon blades are the ones I've had the best luck with, for the most reasonable price which is still a little spendy.
