Love the "Cobra" @ 3:08! Mig 29 was a great plane before, now it rocks.

I'm still amazed by vector thrusts and how it seems to make aircraft defy the laws of physics.

what's all about that vector trust. some kind of new technology? I have never heard about it.
Did i miss something?
@serpa6 please explain!

Not new, but harsh on engines. Muzzles of turbines are mode from some very complicated titanium, and other unknown stuff alloy.
Look at the video, starting 40 sec you will see how it works.

Another issue with those engines is that any engine needs a constant flow of air, or you can get in trouble. And when a plane is not really flying, you're not getting any air. So they are hard to make, and as such, have a lesser life span.

Thrust vectoring is the act of directing the thrust. If you watch the exhaust nozzles on the f22 and the mig you'll see them slightly move. When the plane pitches up the nozzle pitches up to push the rear of the plane down. The first thing that comes to my mind to explain it is a jetski or a jet boat. To turn the nozzle turns and vectors the thrust in the water. Same theory.

Bad ass jet. And the guy flying it does a most spectacular job of showing off all its thrust vector capabilities. Nice one serpa.

This is a great video and a great plane! Hats off to the ruskies for coping yet another really useful feature 20 years later :;): The only thing better than being able to maneuver like that would be to maneuver like that and be invisible.
