A button, (Approve: yes, no) in each posting box, to allow everyone to vote on that post would be a great idea.
If someone was too crude, vile, nasty, offensive or unsavory we could all vote
and when 55% agreed, that box and person would be locked from the thread until the poster reworded what was said.
The system would tend to be self-regulating. if someone was to be ganged up on by a clique and his posts were blocked,
he could do what he would do in real life and find better people with which to associate.
I want discourse. I want argument. I want free speech. And thought. And ideas.
And I want the conversation to go as far as all are interested and those comments can include ridicule of individuals
but there is no reason why it can't all be done with civility. Sir Winston Churchill and others prove that.
What is offensive is a monitor deciding what a person may and may not say.
That stifles the exchange of ideas. If we wanted that, we could go to college.
