All white people are going to hell, longtime African-American civil rights advocate Rev. Joseph Lowery told an audience at a get-out-the-vote event held Oct. 27 in Georgia.
Lowery, who gave the benediction at the January 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama, told the audience of up to 300 African-Americans “that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell. Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was,” according to an Oct. 31 report in the Monroe County Reporter newspaper.
“I don’t know what kind of a n—– wouldn’t vote with a black man running,” Lowery also told the audience in the St. James Baptist Church in Forsyth, Ga., according to the Reporter.
“He was saying [that] based on all of the hatred that’s going on” towards President Barack Obama, Helen Butler, the executive director of Lowery’s Georgia-based Coalition for the People’s Agenda, told The Daily Caller.
“He just fell that he should feel the way he used to feel,” Butler, who attended the rally, explained.
“Of course he doesn’t believe that all whites should go to hell,” she added.
“That’s not him — he’s a very caring person.”
“He was trying to get people motivated to ensure they go and vote…. [and] he did make the point that there is a lot of hatred in this country,” she said.“It was a joke” told via the perspective of a young militant, Lowery told TheDC. “When I said it, I said it was a joke, I identified it as a joke,” he said.
However, the article also quotes Forsyth Mayor John Howard saying he was “pretty shocked” by Lowery’s comments.
Howard “said if a speaker had made the same comments about black people, he would have gotten up and left… He said the Bible gives set instructions on how to go to heaven and it doesn’t say anything about skin color … [and] he said he looked at the face of his pastor, the Rev. Antonio Proctor, and could tell he was real shocked too,” according to the Macon County Reporter account.

I am glad you find it amusing and that Eagle and I are apparently 'brilliant'. It's nice to be appreciated. By the way, I was born in California and am a US citizen by birth, but my father is Canadian and I have dual citizenship, so I do get the whole monarchy thing. Have lots of family that were originally from across the pond.

His next pick, Judd Gregg, withdrew his nomination as Secretary of Commerce, citing "irresolvable conflicts" with President Obama and his staff over how to conduct the 2010 census and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Tom Daschle was Obama's original nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary. However, he owed over $128,000 in taxes over three years, failed to report more than $83,000 in consulting fees in 2007, and owed $12,000 in interest and penalties. He also provided insufficient documentation for $15,000 of the $276,000 in charitable contributions that he and his wife, Linda, gave during the three-year period being studied by the panel. Daschle also had some miscommunications with his accountant on the $255,000 use of a luxury car service that was used 80% for personal services. Daschle paid his back taxes six days before his first confirmation hearings with the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. The New York Times called the Daschle nomination into question both for his tax issues and for his extensive private sector work in the health services industry. The editorial noted that although Daschle was aware of his tax problem in June 2008, he did not correct ii until his cabinet nomination.

Timothy Geithner, who was nominated as Treasury Secretary, also encountered tax issues. He apologised to the United States Senate Committee on Finance for having overlooked paying $34,000 in Social Security and Medicare taxes earlier this decade. He was confirmed despite failure to pay a total of $43,000 in taxes and penalties, which troubled the Senate.

Nancy Killefer was nominated for the position of Chief Performance Officer, but withdrew in February after it was revealed that she had failed to pay the unemployment compensation tax for a household employee for a period of 18 months.

U.S. Trade Representative nominee Ron Kirk's failure to be confirmed by March 2009, was due to a report on 2 March that Kirk owed over $10,000 in back taxes. Kirk agreed to pay them in exchange for Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus's aid in speeding up the confirmation process. Un-fucking believable.

Hilda Solis was nominated as Secretary of Labor but she faced delayed confirmation hearings due to her pro-labor activities as a board member of American Rights at Work and because of $6,400 in unpaid tax liens against her husband's auto repair business. Both Solis, who was uninvolved in the business, and her husband claimed not to have had any knowledge of the 16-year old liens prior to their disclosure by a newspaper, and they paid it when notified. Delays were however exacerbated due to Solis' perceived unresponsiveness to questions. Solis was later confirmed on 24 February. Again, un-fucking believable.

The issue isn't Obama/Romney, even as much as you would like to believe. The issue is over the measurement of government. How much should the government be involved in a persons life? What is the role of government? Does the government reserve the right to step in? How much regulation should the government impose upon the United State citizens? ETC.

The democrats are no better, ie the hand outs, welfare checks etc.

Almost two thirds of NHS trusts using the Liverpool Care Pathway have received payouts totalling millions of pounds for hitting targets related to its use, research for The Daily Telegraph shows.

The figures, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal the full scale of financial inducements for the first time.

They suggest that about 85 per cent of trusts have now adopted the regime, which can involve the removal of hydration and nutrition from dying patients.

More than six out of 10 of those trusts - just over half of the total - have received or are due to receive financial rewards for doing so amounting to at least £12million.

At many hospitals more than 50 per cent of all patients who died had been placed on the pathway and in one case the proportion of forseeable deaths on the pathway was almost nine out of 10.
Last night the Department of Health insisted that the payments could help ensure that people were “treated with dignity in their final days and hours”.
But opponents described it as “absolutely shocking” that hospitals could be paid to employ potentially “lethal” treatments.
The LCP was originally developed at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the city’s Marie Curie hospice to ease suffering in dying patients, setting out principles for how they to be treated.
It involves the withdrawal of treatments or tests from patients which doctors believe could cause distress and do more harm than good.
Protocols say that doctors should consult the patient, if possible, and their families.
But the system has been mired in controversy amid claims that it can actively hasten death.
A series of cases have also come to light in which family members said they were not consulted or even informed when food and fluids were withheld from their loved-ones.
In some instances patients placed on the pathway because doctors judged that they were nearing the end of their life went on to recover.
According to responses from a sample of 72 trusts, at least £12.4 million has been paid out in the past two to three years to trusts which hit targets associated with use of the care pathway. But the full figure could be more than £20 million.
Under a system known as “Commissioning for Quality and Innovation” (CQUIN), local NHS commissioners pay trusts for meeting targets to “reward excellence” in care.
These can range from simply recruiting a set number of people to classes to help them stop smoking to providing specialist end-of-life services on wards - such as LCP.
As the goals are set locally, they vary from area to area but in some cases trusts are given specific targets to ensure that a set number of people who die in their hospital are on the LCP.
Elsewhere the targets relate to how the pathway is operated or monitored.
Each Trust was asked how many people had died on the LCP over the past three years and how much money received in that period was attached to goals involving it.
Overall 61 of those which responded said that they used the pathway, translating to 85 per cent of the total.
Of those, 62 per cent disclosed that they had either received, or expect to receive, cash rewards for meeting targets associated with the implementation of the pathway. The remainder said they had adopted the LCP without receiving any payments.
Central Manchester University Hospitals - which received £81,000 in 2010 for meeting targets relating to the LCP - said the proportion of patients whose deaths were expected and had been placed on the pathway more than doubled to 87.7 per cent in the past year.
In Berkshire the Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals Trust received more than £1 million over two years for meeting its LCP goals.
Its targets included carrying out an audit of the number of deaths of patients on the LCP as well as having a “meaningful conversation” with the patient themselves but did not set a specific goal for the number of deaths.
Bradford teaching Hospitals, which qualified for CQUIN payments of more than £490,000 in the last two years, has seen the number of patients dying on the pathway more than double to 51 per cent over the last three years.
In Birmingham the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust disclosed that 38 per cent of patient deaths occurred on the LCP in 2010 and 27 per cent in 2011. It received a CQUIN payment of £603,886 in the financial year 2010-11 alone.
A handful of trusts openly spoke of either hitting or missing targets connected to the LCP in their responses.
Dr Gillian Craig, a consultant geriatrician who was among the first doctors to raise the concerns over the possible flaws of the LCP, described the use of the incentives as “absolutely shocking”.
“I think there should be questions in Parliament as to who instigated this policy and I think the cash payments should be stopped forthwith,” she said.
“You can’t pay people to use a certain protocol that everybody knows to be lethal.”
Dr Phillip Lee, the Tory MP for Bracknell and a former GP, insisted that the pathway did not amount to “euthanasia by the back door”.
“This is about trying to provide appropriate care to someone who is dying,” he said.
“Palliative care specialists are some of the best doctors that this country has.
“Sometimes there are conflicts between doctors and patients’ families but I just cannot believe that there is anybody in the palliative care arena who is trying to anything other than provide the best care for patients.”
Earlier this week the NHS disclosed that it was beginning a review of the operation of the LCP following concerns highlighted in the media. Dying Matters, a coalition of organisations including hospices, has been asked to speak to relatives about their experiences as part of the inquiry.
The Department of Health has consistently stood by the LCP.
Last night a spokesman said: “The Department of Health does not centrally fund any payments for the use of the Liverpool Care Pathway, but local areas may choose to do so in order to improve the care and support given to people in their last days.
“This means patients can be more comfortable and treated with dignity in their final days and hours.
“The Liverpool Care Pathway is supported by more than 20 leading organisations, including Marie Curie Cancer Care and Age UK, as a way to help meet the care and dignity needs for those who are at the end of their life.
“We are clear the Liverpool Care Pathway can only work if each patient is fully consulted, where this is feasible, and their family involved in all aspects of decision-making. Staff must properly communicate with the patient and their family - any failure to do so is unacceptable.”

As the waters of Sandy recede in the US, the death toll continues to rise, with the total now at 98 as more bodies are being discovered during clean-up operations. Millions are still left without power and victims are beginning to feel ignored.
New York State officials said the local death toll had increased to 41 on Friday, including two boys, age two and four, who were swept away from mother’s arms while stuck in a car amidst floodwaters.

At this point 3.8 million Americans remain without power, including 3.2 million in the states of New Jersey and New York alone. Nearly 400,000 Pennsylvania residents are still suffering from power outages, and a quarter of a million people share their fate in Connecticut. Most other states along the East Coast have had power completely or mostly restored.

One of the hardest-hit regions was New Jersey, with 14 reported deaths. Thousands who have fled their homes to escape the flood are unable to return home due to high water levels and 1.6 million still remain without power there.

Most of the state’s transit system is not functional and gasoline shortage is making it difficult for people to use their own vehicles.

"Literally digging through rubble, we have found some of our exposed, broken pipes with flare-ups on the ends of them," said Micah Rasmussen, a spokesman for New Jersey Natural Gas.

In Hoboken, New Jersey, 20,000 residents became stranded in their homes when the Hudson River broke its banks and flooded parts of the city. Residents were told to stay away from the water, as it was tainted with sewage and chemicals from the area's various industries.

“When the storm hit, it looked like rushing rapids outside. The water was chest-level. Now, three days later, there’s raw sewage and oil in the street. It’s a real health hazard. I saw people walking barefoot,” said local homeowner Deborah Cohen as quoted by France 24.

“A lot of people have left town, because they don’t have heat or electricity. We’ve been flooded before, but this is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s going to be pricey to repair.”

In New York, four of the city’s seven subway tunnels were flooded and three still remain underwater. Over a million are still without power and 900,000 of those will remain so until November 11, while Manhattan is said to get its lights back by midnight on Friday.

New York’s Staten Island, which houses 500,000 residents, mostly blue-collar workers, was hit the worst during Sandy, with more than 80,000 residents still without power, many homeless, and at least 19 dead because of the storm.

And only four days after the storm, supplies are making their way to the area. Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro expressed his anger at what he sees as a slow relief effort.

"This is America, not a third world nation. We need food, we need clothing," Molinaro told ABC news.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) is now shifting focus from search and rescue to power restoration, floodwater pumping operations, providing basic necessities and reaching out to hard-hit communities, reported Washington Post.

However, many of the victims’ frustrations are growing as they feel forgotten about.

Feeling helplessNew York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Thursday that New Yorkers need to have patience with recovery efforts.

"We are desperately trying to help everybody," said Bloomberg. At the same time he stated that NY is fine and will be proceeding with the world’s largest marathon on Sunday, with 40,000 runners participating.

"The city of New York right now is talking about getting water out of the Battery Tunnel and preparing for a marathon,"member of US House of Representatives Michael Grimm told NBC News. "We're pulling bodies out of the water. You see the disconnect here?"

Even elected officials are pleading for more help fast.

Molinaro criticized the Red Cross, calling it an “absolute disgrace” and even asked people to stop donating.

“The first responders came through, but since then no one has been down here," Russell Isak from Staten Island told The Wall Street Journal. "No agency has been down here. Nothing."

The damage is truly grave and estimated at up to $20 billion in insured losses and $50 billion in economic losses, according to disaster modeling company Eqecat.

Insurance Information Institute ranks Sandy as the fourth costliest US disaster, behind Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the September 11, 2001, attacks and Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

Other states suffering significant death tolls were Pennsylvania with 12 and West Virginia with 6.

The families of the four Americans killed in the terrorist attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi on Sept. 11 continue to grieve, however, they are also continuing to speak out.
A father and a mother used the word “murder” when discussing the Obama administration’s response to the attack while an older brother of one of the victims is not questioning the decisions made in the heat of battle, UT San Diego reports (https://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/nov/02/tp-families-differ-on-us-response/?page=2#article).

Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, a State Department computer wiz killed in the assault, told the paper that she blames President Barack Obama for the death of her son.
“I believe that Obama murdered my son,” she told UT San Diego from the living room of her Clairemont home. “I firmly believe this.”

Believe it or not, the mother actually voted for Obama in the 2008 election because of her son, Sean, who encouraged her to do so. Sean Smith was reportedly an avid supporter of the president.
Charles Woods, the father of slain former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, argues the White House should have made an effort to save the Americans under attack in Benghazi.
“I’m a retired attorney, and I know that these actions legally do not constitute murder. But in my mind the people in the White House, all of them who have authority to send in reinforcements to prevent what they knew was going to be the death of my son, are guilty of murdering my son,” Woods told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Sunday.

The older brother of Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL from Encinitas working as a U.S. security contractor, said Doherty and Tyrone Woods were part of the force that responded to the consulate attack.
“They rescued a bunch of people and brought them to the (consulate) annex, and then people defended the annex after Glen and Ty fell. All those people didn’t get overrun and wiped out. They had enough people to fight off that battle,” said Greg Doherty, who lives in Kensington in Northern California.
In that light, Doherty said the debate over needing more help doesn’t make sense to him, unless it might have been U.S. airstrikes against a mortar position used by attackers.
“But then you are getting into real specific strategy, and I don’t think it is civilians’ job to pick apart an actual battle and talk strategy, unless you are a general,” said Doherty, reached by telephone Thursday.
GOP lawmakers and others have criticized for Obama administration for what has been perceived as a lack of transparency in the aftermath of the attack. The White House also spent nearly two weeks blaming an anti-Muslim YouTube video for the attack before eventually admitting that it was a coordinated terrorist attack on the anniversary of 9/11.
Currently, the Obama administration is under the gun and being asked to explain why more resources weren’t sent to Benghazi to save the Americans that were under attack. CBS News reported (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/cbs-sources-key-counterterrorism-task-force-not-convened-during-benghazi-attack/) on Thursday that a key counter-terror task force wasn’t even convened that night.
Former SEAL Brent Gleeson of San Diego said it is questionable whether help might have been able to arrive in time. Additionally, flying in troops from another country would have required ground support.
“Logistically speaking, it’s not as black and white as people are making it sound. It’s not just, call for help and they fly in the reinforcements,” Gleeson said.
“If they fly people in, well great, how are they going to get to the target? They need vehicles. Where from? Unless the vehicles are staged there already, logistically in that situation it’s kind of a nightmare. They weren’t prepared for this, obviously,” he added.

Brenden, I get what you're saying but I have wasted my presidential vote twice in the paste on third party candidates. This year is just too critical to America's future to do it again. Like I have said, neither man up for election would have been even my 3rd of 4th choice.

Eagle all of those articles, with the exception of the health care law, are a reflection of the Republican party as well.

Immigration- I seem to remember a large blanket amnesty from the Bush administration, and have no doubt that Romney will do the same. Withhout looking it up I think the figure was some where around 6 million? As I said, the people that pay these politicians (not the tax payers, but the ones that actually pay them) the corporations want the illegals, why pay me 15 bucks an hour when you can pay an illegal 6.15?


Hurricane Sandy/Hurricane Katrina, same thing! Bueracracy getting in the way of actual help and aid, plus a lot of this falls onto the local and state level leaders as well. They dictate where the aid gets distributed, and FEMA/Red Cross go where they are told.


Benghazi. Well the Iraq war, faulty equipment, equipment not ready for the conflict, not enough troops etc. Also the mishandeling of the war in Afghanistan from 2001-2007. Those two actually costed more lives then I'd care to mention.



The health care law is disgusting as far as I am concerned, the again I do not care for Romney's "plan" either. Health care does need a massive over haul, and the government is going to have to play a role in it whether we like it or not. Health care is so massive it won't be able to manage itself without costs sky rocketing out of control and no one being able to afford any sort of health care. I think a better regulation of the prices, and management at the local level is in order.


Either way, everything you pointed out is exactly the same as what will happen under a republican administration, except the health care will be different. As I said before I would take Hitler over Stalin anyday, but I have a third choice and neither Hitler or Stalin appeals to me.


SATX, I wouldn't call it wasting your vote. I would call it showing your objection to the two parties running for office. I understand what you are saying no doubt. Those third party candidates will not win, but I still feel it gives you a chance to display your disgust on an official level. That way you don't have to get enthralled with those douche bag hipsters that "protest" and end up destroying shit. I like certain things from both candidates, but I can't encourage them to degrade United States citizens freedoms.
