There wont be any Cold war anymore mate, to much money in multi national companies is involved.

As for sworn enemies? I think that those are just political talks addressed to older right wing audience.
Less or more people who grew up in times of Cold war. Russia and US are geopolitical opponents? Yes.
Enemies? Hardly.

And considering current economical situation in the world, i doubt any one wants to spend money on that.

Russian military power is an oxymoron. Their army is full of people who don't to be there, crap equipment, crap leadership and their subs are rusting in Murmansk.
I used to patrol in East Berlin a lifetime ago and the Russkies would sell their souls for a Mars Bar. We would take cap badges etc off them, great for intel! Any of you yanks here old enough to remember the trading that went on when you took your turn to guard Rudolf in Spandau?!
Your average Joe in Russia just wants us to leave him alone. Fair enough.

CuChi & MadeInRu: IMHO Russia's biggest worry atm is their long time ally China. China steals whatever they can get their hands on from Russia and is instigating conflict with many of it's neighbors over centuries old territorial claims but so far completely silent about the many claims they have against Russian territory. Most of the anti west rhetoric coming out of Russia seems to be an excuse they need to quietly compete with it's regional threats without directly alarming China.

We should strive to make Russia our greatest ally, only fuckwit morons who have never served (Mitt Romney, who ran to France to avoid service) think that conflict with Russia should be instigated.

Crims - good point. China and Russia have always been awkward bedfellows at best. Without Googling I'm pretty sure there's a river out east that sometimes sees a bit of action between the two -- which is always hushed up comrades.
