I think you are talking about the hellcats when the corsair came into service The mustang was a Army aircorp plane Still a bad ass plane 400 plus mph with a full load don't get any better then that

Yes, I think you're correct Serp. I do remember reading that the Japanese Zeros were kicking the shit out of our Navy's Grumman Wildcat in Pacific dogfights. But when the Hellcat replaced the Wildcat, the tide turned almost immediately & dramatically in our favor.

Zero was faster and more manueverable than the Wildcat but that didn't always equate to success against them in a dogfight. Look up Joe Foss and Marion Carl for starters. They were quite successful during the battle of Guadalcanal. Wildcat had armored cockpit and better protected fuel tanks and their six .50 cals were deadly when making hits on the Japanese planes

How the wildcats got them was in a dive shoot and scoot Wildcats never tried to manaver with the zeros they would get them by diving on them If the zeros tried to dive with them they would break up the wing frame was weak the zero could manaver
but could not handle speed the wings would simply tear off

yes, the sound is fantastic. Anyone interested in flying one of these i recommend the DCS world flight sim.. realistis [as far as i know] clickable switches, good scenery etc..worth a look.

@drummer have you tried the A-10 DCS sim yet pain in the ass to learn but dam nice Simulator Nice video great sound anyone with a good surround system Turn it up you can hear that turbochager wizz when he is passing at high speed the sound is awesome on the this vid thanks for the upload

yes serpa, I have that and the huey, another beast to fly but great fun. That put a lot onto their sims. My curent fav is the Mustang using it to attack trains in the sim...sad but fun!

@drummer another sim is the F-16 fighting falcon by aposse It takes place somewhere in the middle east Other sims i have had is F-18 hornet and F-15 strike eagle that one is awesome lots of airfield missions on the f-16 Lots of aa and you attack citys I had the p51 mustang over Korea with a fac spotter its crazy
