It's what is known as an Embolus. The blood doesn't so much clot as it becomes thick. This travels around in the circulatory system, and when it gets stuck and causes a blockage you get an Embolism. This results in a heart attack or heart failure. It can also oclude blood flow to the brain causing a shut down of your systems. Not a nice way to die.

That is why every snake i see except the a brown snake in the garden here in florida i kill. I dont care!! We have a little bugger down here witch is called a pygmy rattle snake I looks like a hybird snake big head small body if it bits you it probably wont kill you but it will mess you up big time. I confronted one once when i went to go shut off the pool pump and I usally always carry a stick My AC unit is right next to the pool pump and the snake curled up put his head as if it was ready to strike They like warm humid places perfect spot for one, I tapped the stick and he was gone or is still around somewhere if the some other snake predator has not gotten him or some redneck has not shot him yet
