Couple Arrested After shooting home invaders [UK]

A homeowner has been arrested after two suspected burglars were shot at his remote home.

The man and his wife were reportedly disturbed by the break-in in the Welby area of Leicestershire, near Melton Mowbray, in the early hours of Sunday.

A 35-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were arrested in Melton on suspicion of GBH and four men aged 27, 23, 31 and 33 were arrested at Leicester Royal Infirmary on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said that at around 12.30am, the ambulance service was called to treat a man with shotgun injuries.

They hopefully wont get the Tony martin (Coincidently I live near where this happened) treatment for a few reasons:

1. Tony martin had no licence for his firearm and it was held illegally. Whatever happened, You're fucked in that case unfortunately.
2. His case got massive public support and outcry and there was legal/attitude changes .

But we shall see i guess.

I agree they where victims, But to say the burglars are treated as victims is untrue. They are ALL arrested , With the home homer (in Frederick Hemstock case, Hussain and martin both have problems in their defensive case) being acquitted and the bugler charged.

Its not ideal, or perfect but its not making the burglars out to be victims either. They are all treated the same.

I completely agree buddy, UK law DOES say (despite what you might read) that you can defend yourself with lethal force if need. But this is not enough, we need to redefine it that the SECOND a person enters your house illegally, they are fair fucking game. You should not have to know, guess or assume their intend and must think the worst case scenario and if they are fucked up by the home owner charge the burglar with anything that happens to them and give the home owner a medal.

Not trying to be a dick here, but you can learn more by reading actual events and studies than you can from watching a TV program, along with a persons stance on an issue. Any form of media, be it internet, TV, radio etc. Has a certain bias to it, to get to the facts and bipass all of the personal opinions of others you must read the text or studies on actual events.

To brush it off as a "wall of text", and not a perfect example of reason is kind of foolish.
