How about this lesson- when a marine or soldier on the ground calls for air support 3 separate times, it's not because he's an aviation buff. SEND THE SUPPORT!

I can understand the primary denial as the shitty intel they had would have left command to believe it was only a small fire team... but when it's repeatedly requested and even when the medivac bird makes a request for additional air... come on... a little bell inside your head MUST go off saying, "shit... maybe they do need the support."

Someone forgot the Golden Rule, "Better to Be Safe than Sorry" They should have had Direct Support Air regardless what intel says....and remember Intel only gives you the 70% answer a C not an A. Even with Bin Laden they couldnt give POTUS an A answer!!!

This is sad and expensive lesson. I hope some heads were rolled over the utter idiocy of leaving those 4 Marines basically on their own. Also I wonder if the other Marines who went to rescue their fallen comrades were disciplined for taking that truck and doing right. They should be awarded medals.
