AC 2.0 feedback thread

The new Page is going online today or early tomorrow - Server is paid!

We were close this month but with the help of some amazing Apaches we were able to pay for the montly server bill.
We cannot thank you enough - with the new page you at least get now something back in return for donating (member Support badge) etc.

Since AC.2.0 will have adspace we are now very busy to finally monetize the page, don't worry we're not going to plaster the page with ads and no porn ads, but we also want to ensure that you all can surf AC without being pestered once a month for donations.

So, we are going to go online with the new page a bit earlier than expected (unless I find an amazing stupid bug that is) - ETA has now been put forward to later today or early next morning.

Here are some very important details pay attention:

1) The new AC webpage has also a new Karma system, it is not fully integrated but will be by end of this month, many know the system already since it is active in the forum, its called Karma or Reputation - we are also planing to integrate the Thank you and Grind hack into the video comments - some of you have seen these before as well - they show the person that thanked or negged you under your post, these are all mods and addons that were suggested by the community which makes then whole I agree or disagree a lot fairer.
You Karma points that you accumulated are when we port over gone - there is a chance since the old page is very much still there and until we port all videos over (which is a fucking mammot task) and serves as a library for now - that we painstakingly port over old Karma to new but to be honst I would suggest you high rollers get used to it that you have to start again (sorry) and the once that are in the red, its a second chance.
What I can promise you is that the new system is about a gazillion times fairer and better.

2) Account problems: This is very important, some of you have already an account with the forum, unless you have changed your password ont the FRONTPAGE and not in the FORUM your old password the one you used to register at the beginning should still apply for the forum.

If you cannot find that password or your username and password and the auto password function doesn't work - only than should you open a emergency ticket. Create an emergency ticket (http://www.apacheclips.com/boards/misc.php?do=form&fid=9) once you send this form off it will create a support ticket a friendly member of the AC Staff team will get in contact with you.
Based on how outdated the old script we used and what we have now in place there might be a lot of these requests, so i suggest that you all have a quick look if you can log into the forum, if you can you can automaticlty upload videos, create slideshows etc.


So:
1) Check if you can login to the forum
2) If not use the PASSWORD RESET FUNCTION
3) If you cannot remember your email address you registered with do the following
a) Try to quickly register with your old username - if username is already in use
b) Create an emergency ticket (http://www.apacheclips.com/boards/misc.php?do=form&fid=9)


Last but not least have patience with us, we are only a small team and moving a whole page as busy as it is over to a complete new system is traumatic to say the least.

Hi, videos were never automarked - the watermark you saw before only laid on top of the video, if you donwload the video you wouldn't see that watermark anymore - its only good if your videos are embedded.

However one of the additions in the very near future will be an auto watemark function, something we wanted todo for ever.

but there are two open issues:

1. when i close my webbrowser and start up AC again my username and password is not saved. i have to log in every time when open AC. i never had that probelem with the old AC webside.

2. is it possible to change my military badge please? you guys gave me a "German Army retired" badge.
I am not from Germany, i am from Austria. and i have not served in the German Heer, i have served in the Austrian Army.

You have the recently added box on the bottom now, I see what you men and install a block on the top with the 4 latest recently added videos.

The featured video is true, I change that.

Which kinda makes me worried ;) that it might not been seen by many others ... hmm i am not in favor of putting recently 4 videos on top in a row, we are planing to give you guys the option to upload good and quality off topic media, naturally we are trying to strictly separate them from the military uploads - so we have a bar for that already.

I might add a link on the top that say go to Recently added (like a Go to the top link)

Very strange, so talk me through it from beginning.

You are logged out -> you put username and pass and login?

step 1: i open my webbrowser (mozilla firefox)

step 2: i open AC2.0 front page --> i am not logged in

step 3: i choose one of the featured videos on the front page

step 4: i click on it ---> when i do this i am logged in.

when I scroll past a video and go back to it seems the page smears over it leaving artifacts on the video screen where the video isn't playing, anyone else getting this or is it just me?

yeah no mate that's defiantly nothing todo with the page - I would love it if it would that be interesting.

I say clear your cache I had that a while back on the old page as well and its usualy stuff that is stuck in your browser or god knows what.

Alright, should work now, even a bit better I have added the function so you guys can pick your own thumbnals - at the bottom of edit.

A few things I think should be added eventually, showing rating stars on the main page, recent videos area etc, Bad ass of the month, auto approval on uploads for ambassadors again(idk if this is already on maybe the convert process takes more time) and a suggestion about uploading, maybe uploads can have a certain glow to them on the page, like admin upload would have a red glow around the box, supporter green, and so on.

and editing stuff works nicely now and very fast thanks haven't tested the thumbnail yet.

I miss the ticker. I reckon recently added should be above featured. Recently added on top gives the impression of a healthy site with lots of new posts. Featured vids run out pretty quick and gives the impression not a lot happens here.

Oh yeh, if you browse whilst uploading, the upload fails. I didnt trust that lil bit of advice but gave it a go anyway. It didnt work. It takes you away from the page but I got a PM re failed upload.

1) Rating Stars added - I didn't add them intentionaly but since you are not the first that asked for them, here they are, not sure why you guys like them that much :) but hey I make the page for you guys not to stroke my ego, well a little maybe.

2) Bad ass will be added shortly, just didn't have enough time

3) Auto approval - needs to be added as an addon, since its not included yet, but will quite possibly added very shortly.

4) Not sure what you mean with the glow.

Yep I guess I can take that out, or its missleading, I believe what I wanted to say was - wait until your upload is finished THAN browse the page - yeah its pretty redundant, I change it as I can see that its missleading.

Added the following messagem to the upload page plus removed the missleading browse sentence.

Do not select the back button or your upload will be canceled - report all faults and Errors while uploading to the admin team HERE

actually if you are logged out and you click on the home button you get logged in :)

The problem is the redirect we had to put on place with the new page and keeping the old page online until all videos are ported over, its something that I work on and will be fixed - not sure how long it'll take tho.

Well, IMHO here:
1. New page looks better and more classy.
2. Uploads are much faster.
3. Page loading times are much better.
4. It's not polished yet, you can see it.
5. In 1 month it will be a bomb, no doubt there.

Things i don't like so far:
1. Avatars on the main page are very small.
2. Forum and main page accounts are not combined.
3. I added my skype, but i only noticed it by mistake in the forum. Icon for skype is way to small and doesn't makes sense.

So far so good tough for me, improvement is great.

Okay that's something my coder has to have a look at - forwarded, thanks for reporting it to us.

Comments as in Avatars and everything else will be style and will look very much like forum posts in the very near future, possibly end of this month.

Forum and main page accounts are combined, that's the whole point we moved over to base the entire page to vbulletin, its one big database.

I will change the icon for Skype to make it a bit more prominent.
