The new and improved Apacheclips 2.0 Discussion thread

We will answer any questions you guys may have - here are some of the questions we had to answer already.

1) AC 2.0 has a new and much improved Karma system based on the vbulletin reputation system.
2) Yes that means unfortunately all Karma points will have to be reset.
3) All videos will be ported over to the new page by end of this month - AC 1.0 will be online until we are 100% sure everything works
4) Why are you changing the page?
too many reasons, atm we are dealing with two databases, complicated setups, old systems etc. etc. the new page will be faster, less cluttered, more user friendly - and much easier to addon community addons.
5) The comments look very bland are you going to add Karma and badges?
We are working on that atm, in the near future the comments under the videos will look exactly like a members post in the forum.
6) With the new system you will be able to create for example your own image slides, times are over were you have to upload one single image.

I have disabled a lot of stuff that could improve the overall server and database performance, right now the forum is not busy but just imagine we port all the users over from the frontpage to the forum - we have on average about a 1000 users online thats a small number compared to very large pages but a large number for any forum.
After a while and fine tuning I will make sure that we're going to turn some of the functions back on.

4., new membership types (i mean currently: admin,co-admin,mod, ambassador - it is enough now, im just asking)

6., HD videos?
7., new types of video categories?
8., changes in comments? (i mean currently u cant see the comments exact dates/times) - maybe new smilies? :)
9., email alerts? RSS feeds are working great, maybe email alerts are usefull too (daily/weekly)
10., RSS for forum threads?

1., new video encoder engine? - > Still using the trusted ffmeg encoding - however file conversion are now queued which means that the server should be in better shape if we're getting busy.
2., upload limit changes? -> No changes, its the same mb size but now we have so much more chances to reward members, the vbulletin platform is so widely used that there are tons of cool additions.
3., new rights management? -> Not sure what you mean by that.
4., new membership types (i mean currently: admin,co-admin,mod, ambassador - it is enough now, im just asking)
5., new type of videos? (f4v,mkv...etc) -> We will have to see, HD conversion is set to off atm, the new page has to go through some stress testing first if all works out we're going to introduce more extensions.
6., HD videos? -> See above
7., new types of video categories? -> Not really we are trying to rework the categories so it makes sense - too many categories is not always a good thing - the spirit and mission of AC 2.0 was always to get away from a cluttered webpage and to keep it simple.
8., changes in comments? (i mean currently u cant see the comments exact dates/times) - maybe new smilies? :) - > Comments will be completely reworked - in the future a comment under a video will look exactly like a post in the forum.
9., email alerts? RSS feeds are working great, maybe email alerts are usefull too (daily/weekly) -> Email alerts are send out for uploads and if a video was not validted - good idea with the rest I will look into it.
10., RSS for forum threads?
