Gazz,
I for one cannot understand why we haven't legalize atleast marijuana. The war on drugs is a joke and a huge waste of money.
If the government was serious about stopping the flow of drugs into this country they would have sealed the border.
Legalize some and tax it.

Maybe the Central American countries should legalize marijuana. Then ask the DEA to leave their countries.
How many countries in Europe have legalizes marijuana? I'm asking because I don't know. I'm not trying to be a smart ass or point fingers.
Wouldn't it be a smart move for Central American countries to legalize pot and then try to legally import it to those countries in Europe?

I think we should look back to the 1920's in America and compare that to the gang violence that has been going on.
What reduced gang violence in the 30's? The 21st amendment to the Constitution.

Beags, that link is not totally correct at least for The Netherlands. Basically its like this: You can buy maximum 5 grams per person per day. You can also grow up to 3 plants at home. And you can puff it out almost anywhere, well except usual as buildings and such.
Eagle, have you ever smoked a fat ass juicy triple dipped fat purple bud blunt/J with kief sprinkled all up inside it?
@ MIR
By law cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands.......it's just tolerated and the police could care less, unless someone does something stupid.....which it's usually American tourists.
The Christians are trying their hardest to make totally illegal again and strictly enforced.
Did the anti-tourist coffeeshop law ever take effect?
I was pissed when they banned Psilocybin
We used to go to Maastricht for hash and shrooms...
yummy

Because we allow corporate personhood and have let America slide into a near facist government, pharmaceutical companies will never allow a drug like cannabis, which clinical studies have already shown to be more effective than thousands of expensive, toxic Rx drugs, to be legalized.
CBD (cannabidiol, a non-psychotropic component of cannabis) for example could undermine their whole Benzodiazipine / SSRI / and even anti-psychotic market, unlike most toxic perscription drugs (which cause more deaths than heroin and cocaine combined annually,) CBD is completely harmless and cheap to produce; so of course it's schedule 1 illegality. When the pharm companies use the federal government to help them monopolize healthcare they become the equivalent of the Mexican drug cartels, only they are less likely to kill their competition and more likely to just incarcerate them.
Be prepared to continue seeing dispensaries, which comply with state law, raided and the rights of doctors and patients undermined. Of course we could regulate any drug just like we do alcoholic beverages, studies show the rate of drug use doesn't increase with legalization, (See Peru, 50% use REDUCTION since legalization) but incredibly stupid people have been duped into believing they are not capable of having control over their own body, it's really sad and pathetic when someone is not in favor of legalization.
The Pharm / Alcohol / Tobacco industries really depend on stupid people remaining ignorant so they can continue to make billions and pretend they aren't directly responsible for 50,000 casualties in Mexico in the last 6 years. Sooooo yeah... voting Ron Paul, so maybe America can be free again and I won't have to live 100 miles from a warzone here in Texas...

Legalisation of drugs...
Increases the quality, reliability and safety of the product, which in turn:
Decreases deaths due to drug use (particularly overdoses).
Decreases the price of the product, which in turn:
Decreases thefts to support drug addictions (for addictive substances).
Decreases the profits, power and influence of organised crime, which in turn:
Decreases violent crime due to gang wars etc, and:
Decreases corruption of law enforcement and politicians.
Does not increase use of drugs (99% of people claim they wouldn't use hard drugs if they became legal, and tobacco use is at an all-time-low despite tobacco being legal see here (http://stopthedrugwar.org/speakeasy/2007/dec/05/poll_99_percent_wouldnt_use_hard) and here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Smokers-as-a-percentage-of-adult-pop.jpg)), provided people are educated about the dangers of drugs.
Makes it harder for minors to access drugs here (http://blog.norml.org/2009/08/28/study-says-its-easier-for-teens-to-buy-marijuana-than-beer/) (drug dealers don't ask for ID, but legal shops do).
Increases the amount of people who seek help for their drug addictions.
Decreases the amount of people in jail (currently 20% of all US prisoners are in for drugs and the US has 23% of all the world's prisoners), which in turn:
Decreases the huge amount of money spent on jailing people.
Raises huge amounts of money from taxes on the sale of drugs to adults, which could then be spent on public infrastructure, healthcare, education, scientific research and defence.
Did I miss anything?

Sixx, what you mean illegal? There are laws and rules for it.
Hash and canabies are soft drugs. So they could be legally sold here.
This link is in Dutch, but explains the rules on which soft drugs are sold.

Decriminalized
It's not legal, it's tolerated to a point....
Big difference
There is no place in the world where marijuana is 100% percent legal
