KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 11, 2011) — A combined Afghan and coalition security patrol detained an insurgent during an operation in Lashkar Gah district, Helmand province, Monday.
The insurgent is an improvised explosive device facilitator responsible for IED attacks against Afghan National Security Forces and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The security force seized one pistol, two AK-47s, 1,000 AK-47 rounds, $6,000 U.S. dollars, and a quantity of communication devices during the operation.
The IED facilitator was taken for processing and further questioning.

A combined Afghan and coalition security patrol captured a Taliban leader and detained two additional suspected insurgents during a security operation in Kandahar district, Kandahar province, yesterday. The leader manufactured homemade explosives for use in attacks throughout the region.
East
In Tagab district, Kapisa province, a combined Afghan and coalition security patrol discovered an improvised explosive device cache today. The cache consisted of two vehicle borne IEDs which were safely destroyed by the security force.
