KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 7) — A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple suspected insurgents and discovered a bomb cache during an operation in search of a Taliban leader in Musa Qal’ah district, Helmand province.
The security force safely destroyed 600 pounds (272 kilograms) of homemade explosives, multiple rockets, land mines, pressure plate bombs, and rocket-propelled grenades on site.
The leader facilitates murder and intimidation campaigns against local nationals in the southern Musa Qala district, as well as, conducts direct fire, roadside bomb and suicide attacks against Afghan forces.

In Chahar Bolak district, Balkh province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation. The leader was responsible for weapons and roadside bomb facilitation, as well as, planned attacks against Afghan forces.
South
A combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader and detained multiple suspected insurgents during an operation in Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province. The leader conducted roadside bomb attacks against Afghan government officials.
In Sangin district, Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained two suspected insurgents during an operation in search of a Taliban leader. The leader plans attacks in the upper Sangin valley.
A combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a weapons cache in Sangin district, Helmand province, yesterday. The cache consisted of 4,000 7.62 mm rounds and military clothing. The ammunition was seized by the security force for safe destruction at a later date.

In Muhammad Aghah district, Logar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Haqqani network leader during a security operation. The leader planned car bomb attacks in Kabul.
