Hi everybody,
I was just wondering what will take place if the plan for cutting 50,000 active duty troops actually happens. I get that 50,000 troops will be cut that's obvious, but I was wondering if it will prevent me from getting an active duty job? (Like special forces because that's what I've always wanted to do)
I can't post the link to the article yet because I have not posted enough on apacheclips but it's the front page of military.com

yep, interest question.....
no idea, what will happene, but i think you don't need to fear about it
because of these datas:
Through August, all four of the active duty components had met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for that point in fiscal 2011, which began Oct. 1. Here is the breakdown:
-- The Army had 60,199 accessions, with a goal of 59,150, for 102 percent;
-- The Navy had 31,308 accessions, with a goal of 31,308, for 100 percent;
-- The Marine Corps had 26,135 accessions, with a goal of 26,097, for 100 percent; and
-- The Air Force had 26,533 accessions, with a goal of 26,533, for 100 percent.
Meanwhile, five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for the first 11 months of the fiscal year: -- The Army National Guard had 45,972 accessions, with a goal of 48,108, for 96 percent;
-- The Army Reserve had 28,058 accessions, with a goal of 25,617, for 110 percent;
-- The Navy Reserve had 7,719 accessions, with a goal of 7,719, for 100 percent;
-- The Marine Corps Reserve had 9,131 accessions, with a goal of 8,864, for 103 percent;
-- The Air National Guard had 6,430 accessions, with a goal of 6,191, for 104 percent; and
-- The Air Force Reserve had 8,456 accessions, with a goal of 8,444, for 100 percent.
All four services are on track to meet their annual retention goals and all of the reserve components are headed toward their annual attrition goals, officials said.

I read the article there today and the comments of many thereafter. I will say this. The RIF after Desert Storm gave me (as i predicted) the chance to make E5,which I did. With that babbling of mine out the way.... I think this draw down is too soon. On a another note... A commenter said ADA was growing. Does anybody who is active know why this is? I could play devils advocate on that question but I would rather ask active duty the question.
