KABUL, Afghanistan (August 2, 2011) – In Mata Khan district, Paktika province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple suspected insurgents while searching for Haqqani network leader, yesterday.
The target of the search is responsible for kidnapping, as well as roadside bomb, indirect fire and ambush attacks against Afghan security forces.
While searching the area, the security force confiscated a machine gun, multiple grenades, AK-47 assault rifles, roadside bomb materials, and chest racks.

A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a Taliban leader during a security operation in Pul-e Khumri district, Baghlan province, yesterday. The leader directed suicide bomb attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces.

During a security operation in Kajaki district, Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent while searching for a Taliban leader, yesterday. The targeted leader directs Taliban operations in the area.

East
An Afghan and coalition combined security force detained a Haqqani network facilitator and several suspected insurgents yesterday during a security operation in Terayzai district, Khost province. The facilitator was responsible for coordinating roadside bomb attacks in the area.
Also in Terayzai district, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a Haqqani network leader and several suspected insurgents, yesterday. The leader was responsible for roadside bomb attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces in Terayzai.
During a security operation in Zurmat district, Paktiya province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent yesterday while searching for a Haqqani network leader. The leader directs roadside bomb and indirect fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
In Hisarak district, Nangarhar province, a combined Afghan and coalition force killed one insurgent during a security search yesterday after the insurgent attacked the security force. The target of the operation was the Taliban-appointed governing official for operations in the district. He is responsible for the movement of foreign fighters and weapons used in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
Finally, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple suspected insurgents during an overnight security operation in Nerkh district, Wardak province. The target of this operation was an insurgent who provides direct support to senior Hezb-E Islami Gulbuddin leaders.
