KABUL, Afghanistan (June 30, 2011) – In Musa Qal’ah district, Helmand province, a coalition force dismounted patrol killed several insurgents during a security operation, today.
The patrol, observed a group of insurgents armed with long barrelled weapons and rocket-propelled grenade launchers preparing to conduct an attack on the patrol. The patrol engaged the group of insurgents killing several.
Initial reports indicate no civilians were harmed during the operation.

South
A combined Afghan and coalition force discovered and seized a drug cache in Washer district, Helmand province, today. The cache consisted of 661 pounds (300 kilograms) of wet opium. During the operation several insurgents were detained by security forces.
In Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition patrol discovered a drug and weapons cache, today. The cache consisted of 1,563 pounds (709 kilograms) of marijuana, three 155 mm casings and 50 7.62 mm rounds.
All the items were seized and destroyed by security forces.
West
An International Security Assistance Force patrol discovered a weapons cache in Shindand district, Herat province today.
The cache consisted of three 152 mm rounds, one 122 mm round, 22 85 mm rounds, one 76 mm round and one 30 mm round.
All the weapons were seized by coalition patrol.
