KABUL, Afghanistan (May 31,2011) – A combined Afghan and coalition security force killed one insurgent and detained several others during a security operation in Zurmat district, Paktiya province, yesterday.
The Afghan-led force was conducting a search targeting a Haqqani network leader. The targeted leader manages fighters and supplies, executes tactical guidance and plans attacks against the Afghan National Army.
Upon arriving at the target area, the security force noticed several individuals fleeing the area in an attempt to evade capture. The force pursued the individuals before one armed individual opened fire on them. The security force responded to the fire, killing the armed individual. Continuing the operation, the force caught and detained the two other individuals who attempted to flee. The force also confiscated 26 anti-personnel mines, a shotgun, multiple pistols and chest racks.
The security force ensured the safety of all civilians during the operation.

i've got some drills/trainings with them, deadly weapon
but how? meanwhile the ANP's got the hungarian made AK version, called AMD-65

North
A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained two suspected insurgents during a security operation in Chahar Darah district, Kunduz province, yesterday. The Afghan-led security force conducted the security operation in order to capture a Taliban leader in the district. The leader facilitates foreign suicide bombers including Chechens and Pakistanis throughout the province.
Following several intelligence leads, the security force searched a compound associated with the leader. While searching the compound, the force encountered several individuals who they suspected had ties with the targeted leader. Through interviews, the force was able to identify and detain two individuals with ties to the facilitator. The operation was completed with no shots fired and no civilians harmed.
Several insurgents were killed and one was detained when they attempted to ambush Afghan Local Police candidates May 28 in Kunduz.
Insurgent forces attacked the local police candidates with small arms fire, indirect fire and rocket-propelled grenades, as they travelled to their scheduled training, reports stated. The Larkhabi Afghan Local Police and U.S. special operations forces elements responded to the ambush with indirect fire. Afterwards, Afghan commandos with other special forces elements arrived on the scene and maneuvered to surround the insurgents. One ALP student died as a result of the attack, and seven others were wounded.
Following the engagement, the commandos recovered five AK-47s and one PK series machine gun. No civilian casualties or structural damages were reported.
South
In Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents during a security operation targeting a Taliban facilitator in Spin Boldak district, yesterday. The facilitator is responsible for coordinating attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and supports a local explosive device attack cell.
The security force identified the individuals while clearing a compound associated with the facilitator in the district. Additionally while searching the area, they discovered 100 pounds (45 kilograms) of heroin. Continuing on, Afghan members of the force interviewed local residents who helped identify the suspected insurgents, who were taken into custody for further questioning and possible detention. The security force safely destroyed the confiscated heroin. No shots were fired during the operation and the force was ensured the safety of the women and children.
East
In Khost province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained two suspected insurgents during separate security operations yesterday.
During the first operation an Afghan-led security force targeted a Haqqani network leader in Sabari district. The leader facilitates and coordinates indirect fire, explosive device and car bomb attacks against the Afghan National Army operating in the district. The security force targeted the area after receiving several reports of Haqqani insurgent activity in the area. The security force searched the compound and detained one individual with suspected ties to Haqqani activity.
During a separate search in Musa Khel district, an Afghan-led force detained one suspected insurgent while looking for several Haqqani leaders yesterday. These leaders are responsible for attacks against Afghan security forces and fighter facilitation throughout the district.
No civilians were harmed during either search and no shots were fired.
