KABUL, Afghanistan (April 12, 2011) – Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces killed several insurgents in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province, today.
The combined forces received rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire from insurgents during operations in the district. After establishing positive identification, the combined forces requested close-air support and engaged the enemy position, killing several insurgents. No civilian casualties or collateral damage was reported during the operation.
In other ISAF news throughout Afghanistan:
South
Afghan and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Shah Joy district, Zabul province, today. The cache consisted of three mortars and two 107 mm rockets.
East
Coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Nejarb district, Kapisa province, today, consisting of 20 82 mm shells.
The weapons were confiscated and have been or will be destroyed by the security forces.
