KABUL, Afghanistan (March 12, 2011) – International Security Assistance Force killed several insurgents during a dismounted patrol in Kajaki district, Helmand province, today.
Coalition forces received machine gun fire from insurgents in multiple locations. After establishing positive identification, coalition forces requested close air and artillery support, engaging the enemy position and killing several insurgents.
No civilian casualties or collateral damaged were reported during this operation.

Afghan and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province during a patrol today. The cache consisted of two rocket-propelled grenade launchers, four RPG rounds, two RPG propellants, one 155 mm high explosive rounds, 300 9 mm rounds, 14 AK-47 magazines, 3,280 feet (1000 meters) of electric wire, two AK-47 rifles, 100 7.62 mm rounds, 100 PKM rounds, three radios, four antennas, four grenades, three fuses and several improvise explosive device components.
Coalition forces conducting a dismounted patrol today, in Arghandab district, Helmand province, discovered a weapons cache consisting of five grenades, three 10 gauge shotgun rounds, one 82 mm mortar round, 60 5.56 mm rounds and 60 8 mm rounds.
An Afghan and coalition patrol in Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province today, found one jug filled with 50 DSHK rounds, 800 7.62 mm rounds, 10 grenades and one detonator.
East
Afghan and coalition forces operating in Archin district, Nangarhar province today, discovered a weapons and drugs cache consisted of 771 pounds (350 kilograms) of heroin, one rocket-propelled grenade, one AK-47 rifle, one PK machine gun, one anti-aircraft machine gun barrel and 350 7.62 mm round.
All weapons, drugs and IED components have been or will be destroy by the security forces.
