KABUL, Jan. 12 --
Nearly a dozen Taliban fighters have given up militancy and surrendered the government in Takhar province 245 km north of Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday, spokesman for provincial governor Faizullah Tawhidi said.
"Eleven Taliban rebels handed over their arms to authorities in Khaja Ghar district today and vowed to defend government from now on.
This is the second Taliban group, surrendered to government in a single day on Wednesday.
Previously, a Taliban group composed of 30 armed men under commander Mullah Mohammad Yousuf surrendered to government in Ghor 's provincial capital Chaghcharan city 360 km west of capital Kabul this morning,"governor of Ghor province, Abdullah Heiwad asserted.
