Father who hosed down son, 8, with freezing water in their front garden after he wet the bed, now faces jail

A father who soaked his terrified young son with freezing water as punishment for wetting the bed has been told he faces a jail sentence for cruelty.
The 30-year-old was said to have ordered the blue and shivering child to remain in the front garden of his home in Faversham, Kent, after soaking him with a hose.
His eight-year-old son had been banished outside, where he was sworn at, sprayed with water from a hosepipe and allegedly hit twice across the back of his head.

A horrified woman eye-witness called the police after observing the sickening 90-minute assault from her car.
The father, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Margate magistrates last week and admitted cruelty.
He denied hitting his son, who is now in care.
He was warned by magistrates that he could face jail.
Mr Paul Tapsell, prosecuting, said a woman who was visiting a friend in September last year arrived at the street in her car to hear shouting, screaming and wailing. She saw a small boy 'hunched and huddled' in a garden.
A man then came out of the house and yelled at him: 'You're not going to p*** in my house. You're going to stay there all day.'
The woman saw him lunge towards the child and allegedly hit him twice across the back of his head.
She heard further shouting, then watched in horror as the man began chasing the boy, spraying him with a hose pipe.
The witness dialled 999 and, when police arrived, they invited the terrified and shivering child inside his home.
But he told them: 'No, I'm not allowed to move.'
Mr Kieran Brand, defending, said it was a matter for magistrates to decide how to deal with the issue of the alleged hitting, which the father firmly denied.
Mr Brand said: 'It is accepted that the child suffered and this was clearly not a nice incident.'
Magistrates said the allegation of physical assault would not have made any difference to their sentencing.
The case was adjourned to October 12 for pre-sentence reports and the father was granted unconditional bail.
